These discourses consist of elucidations on Vigyan Bhairav Tantra , the meditation techniques of Shiva, as passed on in the Kashmir Shaivism tradition and translated and brought to the West by Paul Reps as part of his book, Zen Flesh, Zen Bones. The science of Tantra is more or less founded on these techniques. Osho's talks were given in Mumbai in the early 70s.
So we forget about the method. We remember the result and we go on imagining, wishing, desiring the result. And one can fool oneself very easily. One can imagine that the result has been achieved. Someone was here a few days before. He is a sannyasin — an old man, a very old man.
One of the most ancient texts and meditation manuals is Shiva's year-old Vigyan Bhairav Tantra, which is concerned with how to go beyond the mind, to attain glimpse of the consciousness which exists apart from the mind. It is here that one should not be identified with the mind, and this is the fallacy of the West; that we are our minds.

Cast as a discourse between the god Bhairava and his consort Bhairavi , it briefly presents Tantric meditation methods or centering techniques dharana. The text is a chapter from the Rudrayamala Tantra , a Bhairava Agama. Bhairavi , the goddess, asks Bhairava to reveal the essence of the way to realization of the highest reality. In his answer Bhairava describes ways to enter into the universal and transcendental state of consciousness. References to it appear throughout the literature of Kashmir Shaivism, indicating that it was considered to be an important text in the monistic school of Kashmir Shaiva philosophy. Each of these three alphabets means three different acts of God.
Vigyan Bhairav Tantra is an ancient text on meditation. It contains techniques of Meditation. The book starts with a question from Devi regarding the nature of reality. She asked Shiva about Universe, about fundamental nature of this world, how one can go beyond space and time to understand this truth. The methods are in their seed form. The entire book can be written in one long piece of paper. However, these methods in their seedy form point towards various powerful meditation techniques.
