Golden Girls Read A Thon: Read a book that includes female friendships
When I was 13 years old 10 Things I Hate About You was my favorite movie. I think I saw it in the theater at least 3x. I loved it! This movie was the first time I ever saw Heath Ledger and it was love at first sight. I was also still nursing my crush on Andrew Keegan(what ever happened to him) and I thought Julia Stiles was the coolest. Im tempted to rewatch the movie but I fear I wont enjoy it as much as an adult.
If Im being honest this book is probably a 2 star read but my nostalgia for the movie caused me to up the rating. 10 Things I Hate About You is a retelling of William Shakespeares The Taming Of The Shrew. Bianca the most popular sophomore at Padua High wants to date but cant until her older sister Kat does and Kat has no interest in dating or parties. So Cameron one of the 2 boys vying for Bianca comes up with a plan to get Kat to go out with school bad boy Patrick.
Despite the condensed and rushed nature of the book it did make me want to watch the movie again. If for no other reason than to see a young Heath Ledger.

For those of you who have never seen the movie, I will provide you with a quick synopsis. Kat is the girl who cares very little about what her peers think of her, so she speaks her mind freely and is uninterested in conforming to societal expectations. Kat's younger sister, Bianca, is the exact opposite of Kat and is interested in dating the most popular boy at school who, by the way, is the definition of a jerk. Unfortunately, according to their father, Bianca isn't allowed to date until Kat does. Since Kat is set on not following along with mainstream expectations, nobody expects Kat to date anytime soon. Then Patrick Verona walks into the picture.
