What a let down this place was although in fairness the room at Maison Fredon was fine once they fixed the toilet We lunched there on and it was fine although the service slow. Needing to try the famous steaks we also went that evening. Sadly we were very badly let down. We went for just a main and were told that it would take 20 minutes which sounded fine. Despite our protestations and their promises the steak and duck didn't arrive until one hour after ordering. The steak was ok but not fantastic and the duck tough. Naturally we gave up on having a dessert.

None of that will happen, sadly, but this series offers a TV approximation as our Cornish chef guides us around the glories of Bordeaux in autumn — the markets, the restaurants, the bars, the wineries — then talks us through making three of its classic dishes for ourselves. Summary The chef embarks on a series of extended culinary breaks, visiting markets, restaurants, wineries, cafes and bars, looking for food excellence and also some innovative recipes that will encourage viewers to cook at home.
