Quote by Gregg Easterbrook: “Torture numbers and they will confess to anything”
Gregg Easterbrook Quotes
The ministers and political staff at the Department for Work and Pensions are rapidly becoming some of the fiercest inquisitors. Take the latest example. Yesterday morning, Mr Duncan Smith claimed that:. Around 1 million people have been stuck on a working-age benefit for at least three out of the past four years, despite being judged capable of preparing or looking for work. As The Guardian , and separately, Full Fact , explain here, that claim relies on an extreme sleight of hand. Mr Duncan Smith appears to be claiming that one million people who could reasonably be expected to work are choosing not to. Yet, in reality, that one million includes single mothers who have children too young to go to school, people who are seriously ill but may eventually get better, and people who may be ill, but have yet to be tested.
Last week Reuters , Financial Times and the Huffington Post referenced a rather sensationalistic outcome published by an Italian entrepreneur and contract university professor who is well known in Italian social media circles. His method, described in a research paper , uses a point system making the following assumptions:. The algorithm based on the scoring system above has been run on followers for 13 international companies, and 26 Italian ones, mostly from very different industry sectors. I guess it is quite obvious that most of these measures are rather arbitrary and debatable measures, and changing the scoring system would be both easy and plausible. For instance, are people who mostly lurk and do not write tweets any less human than those who are compulsive writers and retweeters? Does using a mobile device make somebody more human?

Written By T. If I ever had a mind, at all. If I held her in my arms enough I could built a castle for her around them. Birds are like humans, constantly longing for another life. They are in fact people, people with cracks. I could never resemble a bird, though. I was always unable to calculate my distance from the ground.
