Home Run Heroes: Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, and a Season for the Ages by Sports IllustratedMy book was Home Run Heroes by Sports Illustrated. This book was about the lives of Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire inside and outside the baseball world. It tells everything about them in their time in the MLB. I liked first when they introduced the characters. They explained why they were great baseball players and they didnt just say they were great. They explained how they became incredible athletes and why they wanted to be great. Its not like these guys never wanted this they worked and worked for this. They probably wrote the book to tell the inside of this story of Sosas and McGwires lives. Only so many people knew about their lives. Sports Illustrated tried to show the inside of there lives and not just what they did on the field.
I connected with the book because I play baseball. I love baseball a lot and I guess Im pretty good but its the love for the game that counts He puts more then his skills in he puts his emotion into the game too. (This quote is about both baseball players) I learned that sometimes even if you believe you can do it with hard work. I would recommend the book to baseball fans. If you like a good read about history and an informational text you will like this book.
Sports Illustrated cover or not, Sosa still doesn't get it. And MLB doesn't, either.

McGwire Tells AP He Used Steroids
So Sammy Sosa drinks his single-malt Macallan on the rocks? In Dubai? Chicago also smirked when Samela got caught with a corked bat. We love corked bats in inch softball but in MLB? And when he slinked out of town, a teammate smashed his obnoxious boombox to smithereens.
