Little Kids and Their Big Dogs by Andy Seliverstoff

From hugely popular photographer Andy Seliverstoff of St. Petersburg, Russia, comes this utterly charming collection of just what the title says -- little kids and the big dogs they love.

Through the prism of Seliverstoffs magic lens, impossibly big dogs (Great Danes, Saint Bernards, Leonbergers, Newfoundlands, Irish Wolfhounds, to name a few) and some rare ones (like Komondorok and Bracchi Italiani) telegraph the special relationships they have with the children in their lives.

In the end, I hope the photos convey this important message: Love for dogs and children makes people kinder, Seliverstoff says.

The photographer, 58, spent four months taking thousands of pictures in St Petersburg before compiling a book from the hundred best images. If you love all things big dog or cute kid, this is the post for you! Photographer Andy Seliverstoff has captured dozens of whimsical moments between small children and their enormous dogs — Great Danes, Saint Bernards, Dogue de Bordeaux, and Newfoundlands — gentle giants, every one of them. Seliverstoff is launching a book called Little Kids and Their Big Dogs, which will feature over photos. He spent several months in St. Petersburg photographing kids gently interacting with their colossal companions, who appear to genuinely adore their miniscule moppets. The idea came to Seliverstoff when friends asked him to take photos of their two-year-old daughter Alice pictured with the rainbow hat and their Great Dane. He also did a photo shoot with a three-year-old boy named Theo and his Newfie, Ringo shown carrying the basket.

Little Kids and Their Big Dogs, Volume 1

Little Kids And Their Big Dogs

More than 25 years ago, a long-haired Saint Bernard came into Andy Seliverstoff's life, and his fascination with big dogs began. Because dogs never live as long as we want them to, Andy eventually found himself without an industrial-sized mound of fur at his feet. The dogs also led Andy to his career as a professional dog photographer. For the last decade, he has been a fixture at major dog shows throughout Russia and Europe, where he photographs big-winning show dogs and the people who love them. When good friends asked Andy to photograph their two-year-old daughter, they showed up at the park with their Great Dane in tow. Blown away by the relationship between tiny Alice and gigantic Sean, Andy decided to incorporate him into the shoot. When Andy posted the photos on Facebook, he discovered that lots of people were moved by his photographs.

I consider life to be truly remarkable when an event that started out as a coincidence, turns into destiny. At least that's what happened to photographer Andy Seliverstoff. Andy has always had a passion and love for dogs, especially large breeds, and got his first dog, a Saint Bernard , over 25 years ago. After the dog passed away, Andy couldn't imagine life without another 4-legged companion, which is how he ended up with his first Great Dane. Together they started taking part in and photographing dog shows first in Europe, then around the world. This new found hobby grew quickly, and before Andy knew it, more than 10 years had flown by. Then in Summer , the coincidence occurred.
