Crimes and Punishment (Vol. 1) by H.S. Stuttman
This Illustrated Crime Encyclopedia is full of interesting stories about various different crimes and notorious criminals. Each of the volumes focuses on different crimes, methods of killing, unsolved mysteries and well known killers. This first volume focuses on As and so covers crimes such as abduction, acids as a form of murder weapon, some famous acquitals and amnesia as a form of defence. Each volume also goes into some detail when looking at a notorious killer. This volume looks at Ted Bundy, the charasmatic American who killed over 15 women across the US. This volume goes into great detail, not only looking at the victims and the crimes themselves, but also Bundys early life, and giving some time to explore Bundys psyche and try and find an explanations for his actions.
This Crime Encyclopedia is really interesting and contains a good variety of information, and some interesting pictures and diagrams to supplement this. I enjoyed reading about the different aspects explored in this book as there are some crimes and punishments in here which are not looked at in other books of this type. Overall an interesting read with some good information and a sympathtic look at the victims involved.
