Un hombre de verdad by Boris PolevoiUn hombre de verdad fue escrito en 1950 y se basa en la historia de A. Maresiev, llamado en el libro Alexei Meresiev (se cambiaron los nombres de los personajes), un piloto de caza sovietico que Polevoi conocio y entrevisto en un aerodromo de campana en las inmediaciones de Oriol, durante el asalto nazi a esta ciudad. Este piloto llamo poderosamente la atencion del periodista ya que, ademas de ser nombrado por todos sus companeros como el mejor piloto del aerodromo, tenia los dos pies ortopedicos, algo impensable en un piloto. Quiso contar su historia en la revista en la que escribia y acabo publicando Un hombre de verdad.
