## Delmars Standard Textbook of Electricity by Stephen L. Herman

Im back in school after a lot of years and this was my Basic Electricity textbook. My professor called it the best electricity textbook available. This is an*excellent*book on the fundamentals of electricity. Starting with atomic structure and electron flow theory and culminating with single phase motors, this is everything you need to know. The language is fairly engaging for a textbook and there are numerous helpful diagrams and illustrations spread throughout. There are also tons of practice problems that are laid out step by step to aid you in understand how to solve for unknowns in a circuit.

This ones only four stars for me, though, because there are several printing errors. This is bad. I mean, say youre trying to figure out how to solve for power in an AC circuit and the formula in the book is wrong. Youll spend an awful lot of time wondering why youre not getting even close to the correct answer. Its one thing if youre in class and can check things with your professor but, if you were trying to learn this on your own, youd be in for some headaches.

Regardless, I can recommend this book to anyone with a desire to learn about electricity.

A coulomb is a quantity measurement of electrons. An ampere A is 1 coulomb per second. The letter I, which stands for intensity of current flow, is normally used in Ohms law formulas. Voltage is referred to as electric pressure, potential difference, or electro motive force. An E or a V can be used to represent voltage in Ohms law formulas. A volt is the amount of potential necessary to cause 1 coulomb to produce 1 joule of work. An ohm is a measurement of resistance R in an electric circuit.
