The Giver (Official Trailer) Video (Author: Lois Lowry)
'The Giver' Trailer Is Here
Everyone relax: The Giver movie is going to be in black and white after all. Bullet dodged. Back in March everyone justifiably lost their damn minds about The Giver trailer lacking any sort of black and white scenes. This morning the Today show premiered a first look at the trailer for the movie version of The Giver , the classic novel we all read in fifth grade. For those who don't remember the Lois Lowry tale, The Giver takes place in a dystopian society presented at first as a happy ole utopian one and follows the protagonist, year-old Jonas, after he is assigned his future career as the "Receiver of Memory," the person who has the burden of holding all society's memories pre "sameness" makeover. No one feels pain, everything's in black and white, and as far as anyone believes, no one dies. I remember one fun moment when a kid in school gets chastised for using the exaggerated phrase "I'm starving. Though our memories of the novel are indeed blurry, we see a few problems with this trailer already The whole no one sees in color thing, and the threatening narration sounds exactly like President Snow's message to the people of Panem
