Reading Fatigue and Eye Strain in Special Ed Kids
Gone are the days when I could stay up until the wee hours of the morning marathoning books without my eyelids falling shut. I could be reading the most gripping novel in existence and still drift off inexplicably. It seems that the very act of sitting and facing downward to look at a page has become a signal to my body to shut down. What better time could there be to read without any fear of fatigue? The downside: This is probably more of a weekend or holiday thing.
Do you get sleepy when you read? How about right before bed? When you go to bed tonight, try reading a few chapters from your favorite book. Does reading.

Try It Out
Throughout high school I couldn't figure out why reading my textbook for homework or upcoming tests would put me to sleep. Was the material boring? Was the lighting in my room bad? Was it an actual eye issue? Was it legitimate sleep depreviation??? I remembered that growing up I always read books before bed and to this day if I can't sleep my dad always suggests reading a book.
