While lying there shaking, a hot bath of fear, hotter than his blood, engulfed him, bringing him to his feet. At this point in the story Bigger is tarting to freak out more and try to be more cautious of his actions because he has almost made a few slip ups. At this time and also after Bigger gets known for what he had done, his fear turns more into actions instead of just thoughts inside his head. Power, or rather the lack thereof, has played a leading role in controlling the direction of the novel thus far.
